    video format recomendations

I'm picking up a Panasonic HVX200 and I was curious what people are shooting at for multipurposed footage (the same footage for web, and dvd).

Im thinking 720p at 24 frames.. but im curious if the strobing becomes a problem. If its shot purely for the web 24p is sort of silly to use, but when you intend on using it for both dvd, and web content it gets a tad bit more complicated.

I love the 24p look, but I suppose it may not be the best for this type of content...for those without progressive scan dvd players the 2-3 pulldown onto interlaced displays might look really shitty with all the motion.... hmm

anyways, im obviously unsure... any thoughts, or input would be apreciated.

    Thanks.

I am in Europe and my company just purchased HVX 200 E ( PAL) and shot two films intended for DVD release. Because PAL does not yet have all the bits needed for posting ( as it is about 6 months behind NTSC), we could not even get Firestore working with it. So we shot on tape 25p. We are posting now and the pictures look INCREDIBLE. You shooting on 720/24p should look even better. Also there is NEVER too good, only Not good enough. I highly recommend this camera.

i format in .wmv at 640x480 and our members seem to like that a lot. i prefer .wmv because it can stream vs. mpeg which has to load first before it can be viewed. some people probably don't care about the speed but i like streaming movies myself.

Thanks for the input. I guess there isnt a real strobing problem with 24p versus 60i which is good, because I personally love the 24p look. I dont seem to find much 16x9 content floating around either. meh... I'll just carry on. Camera should be here in a week. P2 cards I'll pick up after a month or so (expensive buggers).
