PR question - www. or no www.

was doing a PR lookup on some of my sites and realized that the site with or without the www. in front of it will result in different pr. one even was the difference between a 5 and a 0.

Let me post that for you:

Create a .htaccess file with the below code, it will ensure that all requests coming in to domain.com will get redirected to www.domain.com (search engines 2 )

The .htaccess file needs to be placed in the root directory of your old website (i.e the same directory where your index file is placed):

Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine on
rewritecond %{http_host} ^domain.com [nc]
rewriterule ^(.*)$ http://www.domain.com/$1 [r=301,nc]

N.B. .htaccess file must be write in unix format.
