Tool for creating good quality thumbs ?

    Hello,
Is there some kind of software avaliable that I can download which will make me a good quality thumb of part of an image eg say I wanted a 200x125mm thumb and I had an image but I only wanted the 200x125mm to be part of the body, would I be able to do this?
    Any comments will be appreciated.
    Many Thanks,
    Brian

Yeah I use Photosho but its hard just to crop a certain part of a photo and still keep it a certain size for the thumb, as well as making it still in proportion so it does not blur.
      Hope that makes sense

Thanks for the link Smutx, looks usefull

I tried Arles and could not get on with it !

tytyguy - I have Easy Thumbnails on my desktop, I was playing around as I only Downloaded it last night. The main problem I have is that I dont want to make the thumb the whole image, eg I want to crop the face and body and have that as a 115x200mm thumb, but it only allows you to make a thumb and display the whole image, if that makes sense.

Other than that its very quick and a great tool.

Select the Rectangular Marquee Tool (top left), set style in the top bar to Fixed Aspect Ratio, then set width and height to your thumb dimensions. Now when you click n' drag the aspect ratio will stay at the same as the thumb you're trying to create.

Once you've selected, Image->Crop, then Image->Resize to thumb dimensions.

This will give you the exact crop you want at the proper thumb size.

I have used Express thumbnail creator

Try Express thumbnail creator from neowise dot com

It will allow you to crop an image to the uper left center or lower right and resize to fit your parameters. It will also create a base gallery template for you if you want it to or you can tell it to just output the thumbs. Not a bad tool to get started with. I still find that I need to hand create a few thumbs for every gallery anyway though. I do not think you are going to find an automated process that is 100% true to your liking but from all the ones I tried.

I am new to adult porn promotion So I think I ran through them all trying to find one to save the most time. So far this has been the best.

I use PhotoImpact as my main graphics tool but have Photo shop also for more intricate work.

mmmmm.... i can even do that in photoshop in just one mouse click + hitting just 1 key.... use action and asign crop, resizing and saving in keys (like F2, F3.. etc. ) ..... if you know how to do that.. you'll just select the area you want to crop with marquee tool with fixed ratio and hit the assigned key for action.... you can crop, resize, save and close a pic... in just 3-5 secs with that...

                      search google for tutorials.. goodluck

                        Photoshop works best for me.

                        Been using it since forever.

                        crop-->resize

I also use Watermark Factory 2 to do some batch processing

ImageMagick + PHP + Javascript will do exactly what you want. ImageMagick's convert tool produces thumbs of equal or better quality as PS, IMHO.

Only problem is that with a server based app it's impossible to do fine adjustments such as curves, or moving a slider back and forth and seeing the effects in real time to be able to choose the "sweet spot"
