Average Click Through Rates?

I have a question for the gallery submitters out there. On your typical gallery, with fairly targeted TGP traffic, what kind of click through rates do you get?

I get about 36,000 pageviews a day on my galleries and I'm getting about 400 sponsor hits a day. That's only a 1% clickthrough rate, which I think is terrible.

What kind of clickthrough rates do you guys get so I have something to strive for?

In the mainstream advertising world, there's only about a 2% click through rate on alot of the ad networks out there.

Are you using any kind of on-the-fly optimization?

I'm sorry, I don't know what on-the-fly optimization is.

My guess would be no...

On-the-fly optimization is where you measure (in real time) which thumbnails (or text links or whatever) are converting the best for each type of user. And then show other users (of that type) the same or similar thumbnails.

It's done to maximize your conversion rate.

(It's done alot in mainstream advertising.)
