hey!!! i am a beginner and i thought that starting an adult blog with sponsors/affiliates would help me see how the game works!! With a blog of this nature.. i assume that i would have to go thru all the necessary steps to start an adult (website) blog, rather then using say...livejournal. Am i correct here? Any services out there that let u start your own adult blog? How do i go about advertising my blog?? thanks guys
I am entirely clueless lol. I work in the adult industry as talent now, but i am learning more and more every day and would like to be a webmistress someday. I know this takes time and patience but i got all the time in the world. i use a free host now and have learned a bit about designing, however i just do not have what it takes to make a professional site on my own...yet.

I've seen a few adult blogs on blogger.com, but they're generally pretty crappy. A copy of Wordpress on any cheap webhost like Dreamhost would definately help you get your feet wet. Slap a copy of wordpress up, and start messing with themes and posts and whatnot.

If you're making galleries for submissions, submit them to sites like mine (in sig), otherwise if it's just a personal blog/talent promotion site, get links from other blogs, and write a lot of posts, and use blog pings to promote.

You're right about wanting to start a blog using your own hosting. With Livejournal/Blogger/Wordpress.com you will be at mercy of their editing choices and could have your site closed at any time. Im sure you will hear horror stories from other Blogger users.

Also, hosting your own blog allows you to customize the site's design and functionality. The use of plugins and widgets, plus access to many already made templates and themes is a big plus.

And being able to choose your own domain and not being stuck with a sub-domain or sub-folder is so much more attractive to users.

While it would take some time to learn to use effectively (although your basic site will be up run quickly), Id suggest you get your own blog setup using Wordpress. You will be able to get lots of help from people here and on other fora since it is a very popular blogging platform.
