The light kit looks okay - BUT that's a damn lotta bulbs...you better look into replacement bulb costs before ordering it...just in case those are NOT in your price range considering as many as they take!

          Thanks for the bump CamsLord!

And thank you fitzmulti for your insight on the bulb issue. I did not think of that and it may become a problem in the future. I don't know about the normal time they should last or how constant turning on and off might affect them. I am going to have to research lighting more before I decide on what to buy. I am always open to suggestions and recommendations on any product. Thanks all!

            N/P! Happy to help.
FYI - this is what I use, CLICK HERE...and Ya they are a little "pricey", BUT the bulb have lasted me over 2 YEARS! And as a price point, the bulbs are $135 each - and I did buy a spare "just in case", but it is still in the box. They come w/ a FIVE YEAR warranty - something also to consider. DO get some spare "fuses" those go out on occasion, but take about 30 seconds to replace...
            :-)

damn those are nice! I bookmarked that link. I can see the use for them when doing stuff on the road so I can see buying them within the next few months. The price is steep yes but the fact that they can be battery powered evens it out. I don't need such a feature yet though, I must look for something stationary and cheap but not floodlights

Oh and I almost forgot, the main reason for this thread! Going rates on amateur picture and video sesions. I figure 150 to 250 per hour for girls, and 50 bucks per hour max for guys. any input appreciated

That light system looks like bad news. Sticking 5 cheap lights on a pod to get a perceived power output of a more expensive system can't be good.

Most photog's i know that want a reliable system without breaking the bank use these guys - http://www.alienbees.com/

Ive got a couple of the 800's and they throw out more power than most would need even in a large studio - they also stand up to on the road treatment very well.

nice! thanks for the link and info. That is a good point about it needing more lights for the output. Damn I should have kept my old grow lights, they would have came in handy now

Dont waste your money on that set up. You would be much better to get a decent set of strobes. Someone mentioned Alienbees. Those are very good for the price, a pair of those with stands and umbrellas wouldn't cost you much more, and you would have a plenty of light.
