    Handling your webmasters & webmistresses

I am only giving them access to the site they are working on. This way I know they can only FTP or work on the database for the specific project I brought them on for.

That's the smart thing to do, right?

Don't want my webmasters fishing around my entire business.

Long term, the ideal situation would be to work with people you trust, rather than having to spend additional time securing, overseeing, and verifying the work of the lowball contractor of the week. That time saved would pay for the costs of a more expensive contractor you had faith in, with money left over. That's been my experience, for what it's worth.

Having said that, access restrictions found on most hosting packages do allow you to secure your systems against malicious or nosy temp workers; contact your sysadmin for more info (oh, wait...)

      Hi -

Well, yeah - the idea is fundamentally solid. How are you making sure that they are seated securely in their own directories or work areas? If you've got some nice clients, try to pitch them for some neato hosting gigs, including perhaps a Dedicated Server, or if you're an asshole, some VPS crap. At least this way, you could ensure that they're kept physically (or logically) far apart from eachother.

duckduckgoose is correct in his suggestion, that you should really only deal with a group of customers whom you know or can work with. With my hosting, I go out on a limb just to get customers - but I also understand what I can and can't do, as far as security and the like.

Feel free to hit me up on ICQ - 304150570 - if you'd like to chat more.

      Thanks
