    vob -> avi/mpeg -> wmv

    Hello People,

I believe there are many video experts on this board
and I desperately need your help?

I have weird problem with video format conversion?

Using DVD Decrypter 3.1.3.0 I successfully ripped DVD to my hard drive.
Then using FlasKMPEG 0.594 Original I converted created .VOB files into .AVI.

The problem is when I tried to convert these AVI files into WMV using Windows Media Encoder 7.01.00.3055 after few seconds of encoding I have got following error:

Invalid or corrupt data was encountered (0xC00D002F)

Strange thing, however, is that I don?t have such problem when I am trying to convert MPEG movies captured via my TV card (and cables) from DVD player.

What did I do wrong? Where should I look for?
Are there any other ways to do this VOB -> AVI/MPEG -> WMV transfer?

    Little bit about my PC:
    P4 2.2 GHz, 765 MB of RAM, ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 7500, Win98 SE

    Thank you all in advance,
    Mistress

I can't get Windows Media Encoder to do high bandwidth file conversions either. Nobody can tell me why. My PC has more than enough power according to Microsoft's site. I've given up, i'm going to try using VegasVideo or MediaCleaner, both can convert to WMV format.
I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!

      Hello Mutt,

I dont know what your story is but I found solution in my case.

Now I am able to encode MPEG -> WMV but...

...another issue is that created WMV file (1 min,320x240) in acceptable quality is around 3MB.

Is it normal file size for WMV?

"acceptable quality" is hard to define but my rips are usually 7mb to 1min 320x240
        what codec are your using?
Do I need to fill this?

          Hello People,

Thanks for all of your advices...

Finally I gave up on FlasKMPEG and decided to use TMPGEnc instead.

But when I get to TMPEGnc and tried to open VOB file as Video File in Select source file section it gives me:

File "C:\DVD\SLUTS_5\VIDEO_TS\Vts_01_1.vob" can not open,or unsupported.

What possibly wrong happened with TMPEGnc?
Why its not allowing to open VOB files?

I just was able to do it yesterday...

          Thank you all in advance,
          Mistress

            Hi Mistress
did you try to open the vob files in another encoder?
It seems to be a problem with TMPGEnc. I'm not sure, I don't use it...
