In your theme editor, do you have a Single Post theme file? You're going to need to add

in there where you want it to load in the sidebar.

Maybe this is the mistake - set the singlecontent-width to 500px.

I think, this is the mistake - CSS for the "singlecontent" must be the same as the "content" - not only the width.
Would you like to make the singlepost-site (or the category-site) like your mainsite, just copy all from the main template.
