Looking for a sharp programmer

I have a site where people can register their business concept and other intellectual data that might require proof of date of concept. Most of it is done - I just need a sharp html/php/mysql programmer to refine it & sharpen it up. I don't want a 'web team' or web design company - I just need one experienced _dependable_ person . I've tried Craigslist and Guru & gotten spotty results - is there another forum or bulletin board I might try?

Speaking as a programmer, your best bet is to have the original coder put more time into the design. Bringing a new developer on means that they need to figure our the architecture of the site before doing anything, and if your previous programmer was like most web developers, they likely didn't bother with anything in the way documentation or UML diagrams; this means scouring every line of code to figure out just how the site functions. It's a huge pain and generally more work than it's worth if the architecture turns out to be poorly-designed, necessitating a complete rewrite of the site.

I can understand your fustration, i am currently in the process of setting up, what we do is just that, Script/Custom modifications, as detailed, that is the problem with changing code, making add-ons to it is unique to you, the problem with the original developers, is they are too busy or there is rates are too high.

I am just coming back to the industry after 1 year and 9 month break to welcome my daughter to this world.
