What to do with automation software?

Hi!

Bare with me on this.

Before getting into a-business I had been following web adult business for several years and done some bit of investigation. I quickly learned that there is no easy money and doing things the normal way means busting your ass off building, updating and submitting sites.

Sure there is software for all kinds of stuff, but stuff that only does part of the webmasters job. I wanted it all.

Well, after plenty of hard work, coffee and sleepless nights I have something.



It's only about 85% completed though. I'm trying to decide on which direction to take it to. So far I've come with some options:

1. Use just for my own business
2. Sell it as an ASP service
3. Give it for free / cheap and make money trough 2-tier sponsor arrangements
4. Sell the whole damn thing
5. Sell "webmastering services"
6. What else?

My dear fellow webmasters. Help me out. Give me some opinions whether you'd be willing to pay for a service, is there need for one and whether it can succeed at all.

Also; _serious_ parnering proposals considered.

What is has:
- sitecreator (automatic ad & gallery rotations etc.)
- gallerycreator
- submitter (only abt. 70% done)
- sponsor management
- stuff like domain and hosting management
- logging (only abt. 30% done)

It will allow sitecreation in time it takes to key in texts. Galleryselection etc. is automated using categories, keywords etc.

If this is another gallery autosubmitter style tool, one big thing would be to make it portable. (Ie: run on windows, macos, linux, ect).
All the others I've seen seem to be windows only, so you'd be the only show in town for those webmasters who would like to run a more reliable system. Yes, I could write my own, and have to a point, but if the price is reasonable, it's cheaper to buy it than to write it, even having the knowhow.

Aim is to provide more than just gallery autosubmitter tool, it handles the whole site and sponsor management (including galleries and submittals).

It runs on a web server, so basically you can use it with any system. One question that came up when chatting with Amber (thanks), was that how do you feel about your data being hosted somewhere else?

I wanted a tool (also; not Windows) to manage 100+ sites with ease and automate everything possible. Currently, it's very close... Only big tasks are classifying and assigning keywords to galleries, keeping submitter information up-to-date and creating templates.

it looks very nice so far. as far as the galleries go have you implemented either ImageMagick or Netpbm so that you can do watermarking on your images or auto-thumbnail creations and even auto-resizing?

Also what kind of movie/flash support will there be?

If you haven't thought of any of these I'd be glad to help.

I could see paying a small fee for something that can do all of this, because right now I do it all manually using the above mentioned programs as well as a few other things that I ahve come up with.

When importing galleries, it creates both thumbnails and lowres versions. It can also be configured to do watermarking if needed (not invisible watermark though). When importing, it can use templates (for keywords, categorization etc.) and also name girls / boys automatically (got tired of inventing names after 20...).

With galleries? It doesn't do thumdnails from movies yet (any input on this appriciated). What do you mean with Flash support? Basically templates can contain anything; stuff that gets inserted by the system are galleries, ads, texts and some misc. info. So you can use Flash and DHTML templates easily. It replaces certain variables from HTML-files.
