what's the best program to make changes to an existing site? i'm very familiar with the ms office programs so i bought frontpage 2003. it seems easy to use but i heard a lot of bad things about frontpage. is the 2003 version any good or would i be better off buying dreamweaver 8?

actually i love frontpage...
i use it for the basic design and refine the code afterwards with PHPDesigner2005

SciTE is a great texteditor to edit HTML, PHP, programming languages (C, C++, Pascal, ........) with syntax highlighting and all you need.

frontpage sucks ass I use Homesite, which is also owned by Macromedia, the same makers of Dreamweaver...both good, but homesite is better in my oinion...Dreamweaver doesn't seem to be as reliable...it's closer to a wysiwyg editor which might be what you're looking for. Good Luck...oh Homesite is muh cheaper too. Here's a free editor that isn't bad.

I have always used FP2003, I tried to use dreamweaver 8 but it seemed to complicated to get the hang of. I even got dreamweaver for dummies..lol, Havent read it yet.

But as for as programs they are both good, But I just like my FP

Here's the way(my) to go.
1) Photoshop - Be creative make something unique
2) Dreamweaver - layout your html
3) UltraEdit - Great way to get your code mean and lean and add some dynamics with PHP

You should try to make your html manually in the windows notepad or another text editor, only that way your sites will be unique!
