    Billing solution for new webmaster?

Anyone willing to give me pros and cons regarding using iBill as my payment processor?

Also, has anybody used Merchant Commerce, Inc. before, or know anything about it?

I'm also wanting to sell tangible product (VHS, DVD, etc.) -- any suggestions?

    Advice appreciated!

    Thanks.

I don't believe IBill is going to be your solution if you're looking to sell tangible product. And with all the recent Visa shit going on, IBill may not be the place to go, other billers like Globill claim to have a way around that fee and may be a better place to go.

Ok, so IBill will help you sell tangible things, but they are sticking it to you with the Visa regulations. What about a Paypal account?

IBill has been fine for me - no problems. They are one of the very few that will do tangible products, so you don't have a lot of choices. Up till recently, though, they wouldn't do International sales on tangibles, so we had to have PayPal as a backup.

PayPal is a great one, by the way, the discount rate is under 3%, no reserve, and daily payout! Their shopping cart is better than Ibills too imo.

IBill just let me on yesterday to their "Beta" of accepting International payments so that was a big deal for me. But I'll probably keep PayPal too for now as a backup processor, even though I'll have to pay the Visa ransom twice.

If you're selling product only, you won't need to be registered by Visa or "pay the ransom"

I can't speak for IBill. However, being a merchant account provider, I can say that if you are selling product only, you do not have to be registered if you have your own merchant account. If IBill has to follow the same guidelines as a merchant account provider, then they are wrong in telling you you need to be registered.

I can only tell you for sure that the letter I got from them said that they would now be designated as an IPSP and I would owe them $750 and they didn't say jack about product vs. subscriptions.

The letter is very clear to me. I'll call Kevin monday and ask if they made a mistake.

Regarding Paypal: I've got an account with them, but haven't heard if they'll be charging the $750.

Their web site said nothing in early october. I got no email. And I got tired of waiting on the phone for over 15 minutes...

                      anyone know anything?

I use my paypal only for tangible products...
