    Playboy-ish startup

Hi I am new to the group, thought id say hi!

I am not starting a TGP, but a site with non-nudes/playboy-ish types of pictures. I want to grow it into a general membership only site for a gentlemen community (pics, articles, etc). Any advice on starting to find content?

I'll let people with more professional content expertise comment on that side, but I might suggest that you include a section for "amateurs" who can submit or post their own pics. This helps out in a couple of ways.

First, it gets you a lot of FREE content. You can either approve every post to control quality of that section, or you can let them post it and then go in and clean it up later.

Second, and this could be very important for you, is that all of this constant, new content will help improve your search engine optimization (SEO) and move you up in natural search rankings. This equals free traffic. I'd also suggest putting a message board or comments section with each picture so that people can comment on it and create even more free content for you.

If you're looking for ways to monetize the site, click on the XBiz article in my sig. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the tips! I will definitely look into that as an option. As far as finding content providers, I am looking at ftvcash, and maybe vivid. But I am also considering buying my own content so I can work on members signing up on my site, rather than having referrals.

Also, as far as legal issues go, what are the risks with working on this site as a sole proprietor out of my apartment? Does that add risk? Would a corporation with a PO Box help?

What would an appropriate $$ investment be to start this up? I have decent graphic design and website design experience, but I would need to outsource some of the development.

In terms of billing providers and age authentication, who are the best/most reliable/adult entertainment compliant that I should go with?

      Thanks for the help!

I was reading one of the Guides for Newbies and it mentioned to not register the domains at GoDaddy.com? I already did!! I haven't transferred them to a host yet or do I have content yet so I am not worried. Should I be? :-O

In regard to whether to be a sole proprietorship, I would not go that route. If you start as an S-Corporation or a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) the company will be treated as the legal entity which means if the business was sued, ect., the plaitiff could not come after your personal property. They are "flow through" entities though. That means that the net profit or (as usually happens the first year) the net loss flows through to your personal taxes.

I'd look in the legal section of some of the adult webmaster portals for more info. Xbiz has a good one. You may still be held responsible if you don't follow the child pornography regulations.

              Hope that helps

Frankly, you sound clueless and completely unable to come up with solutions on your own. You are going to loose your shirt.

If you've not worked in the adult industry before there are lots of paperwork and legal issues to be aware of before going live.
