    You can count on Webalizer stats but if you want more detailed stats go with AWStats :

        cnstats looks good to me but the advantage of using AWStats is that you do not have to pay a dime.

              awstats and webalizer will bring your server to a very high load when they read the log files. When you have a very busy server this can cause your server to stop functioning for a while.

              I'm still looking for a log analyzer which monitors it's cpu usage.

                  Yes, as long as you know how to set up the conf files for the stats, they are great
                  But I personaly prefer awstats, but just my 2cents

                    what's your experience with awstats? is the slowdown it causes when massive traffic (4-500k uniques per day) hits your site significant?
                    ive tried a bunch of counters and they all sort of failed...

                      Yup, but the slowdown is only active when awstats reads the log file and generates the statistics, that would be once a day.

                            Webalizer stats are more prone to "accidents" when adjusting (such as losing data). I prefer awstats by a long shot.
