Comusthumbs vs Gallery Admin

Hi.

I have purchased GalleryAdmin from atoscripts.com some time ago, and wonder if this program is as good as comusthumbs, or I should get that one too ? All replys are very welcome about this subj. as i'm not sure if I need comus or not now that I have GA

Depends on what you are using it for. Gallery Admin has no thumb support (well you could "fake it" by making your own thumbs and using the thumb URL as the description) but is so damn easy to use and configure with text.

If you are going to be running pure text, with random galleries, and don't need "true" dates, or if your are running a CJ or tgp with generic "gallery 01, gallery 02.. type links" I would say stick with Gallery Admin.

Im using the trick with url in description field right now on 1 of my sites, and it works just fine yes.

Is comus making the thumbs by it self ?

I want a tgp site with thumbs linking to FHG, so there is no need to bye Comus for that ?

Is it correct understood that ComusThumbs is a better script than GalleryAdmin, if I want to host the galleries my self ?

If you want to order thumbs by productivty, etc. Yes, comus would be better. I would also suggest you take a look at http://www.jmbsoftware.com 's TGP rotator. I just installed it on one of my sites and for the price, it kicks ass. The gallery scanner feature is worth the price alone. (will scan galleries and get # of thumbs and tell you if they are pics or movies).

If you ask me, a good cost effective mix is JMB's TGP rotator for thumbs, and Gallery Admin for text. I know this leads to two databases, but you can easily import / export from one to the other. And Gallery Admin is unbeatable for random sponsor links, traffic routing, etc.

Also, are you going to be making the thumbs yourself? I find the TGP Cropper quite a time saver! It integrates great with the TGP Rotator, and makes great looking thumbs.
