HD Cameras question

I heard that screen shot for HD video cams is better then fotocamera shoot..Is that true?

since 1080i HD is 1920x1080 and most digital cameras are at least 5 megapixel (or even higher now) I don't see how they compare. 5 megapixel is like 2560x1920 or something, plus you won't get the interlacing.
