    shared hosting disadvantages?

I've had my share of poor service with hosts. So, I've recently started changing over to Prohosters.com.

They have shown me excellent support so far. How competent it is in the months ahead is still to be seen. However, I am using a shared solution since I only have a bunch of small clients at this time.

I like that I can add unlimited domains within the space (500MB) provided, and that I can add domains on both platforms, but I can't help but think there's something wrong with a shared hosting solution. I'm afraid it will bite me in the ass with an important client later on.

    Is there some major DISADVANTAGE?
What should I be concerned with?

I appreciate any answers I fucking get

webraven, your server could go down because of other people's sites, and at some point, you might not be able to get additional space.

however, if the host setup your boxes correctly, that shouldn't happpen.

You are leaving out too much information. Are these clients sites that are e-commerce based? Do they accept any kind of payment? Are you dependant on search engine traffic? If you said yes then it might be best for you to get a dedicated server.

Shared boxes are waaaaay less secure than a dedicated box so you run the risk of e-theft. The IP blocks are shared on a shared box most times so it's possible that one of the other domains on the IP you share could be banned on some search engines. Sometimes that affects you, sometimes it doesn't but you never want to take that risk if you don't have to.
I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...
