I've had my site on google for 6 months now and still don't have a description. I've enabled robots and put meta tags describing the site. I just switched the pointer to my cart when you enter www.pleasureyoursenses.com and want to know if anyone has tips for getting my description to work on google.

I see the link to your site, and you're right, there's no description. What is also odd if that if you google the exact text string "welcome to pleasure your senses", a string of html text which exists on your home page, google does not find your site. There is also not a link to a cached version of your page on google. So google knows your root url, but nothing else about your site. That's why there's no description. The bot has to put your html text into the data base.
When I start new sites, I always submit to dmoz first. Sites listed on dmoz seem to get crawled faster than sites not on dmoz. My last site got crawled by the google bot less than a month after launch.
Go to this page:
http://dmoz.org/Adult/Shopping/Sex_Toys_and_Supplies/P/
and then click on the "suggest URL" link at the top of the page and submit your site.
Then wait.
And try to get some external links--that's another way for the bot to find you.Last edited by buck naked; 06-01-2005, 10:02 AM. -
actually this sounds more like a 'google is having problems indexing' or reading the sites content.
There are many ways this could be a problem, i recommend asking your hosting provider / sysadmin if they've noticed anything similar with other accounts.Comment
