    Starting funds?

I've been having a debate over how much starting cash one should have to start and maintain an adult website. Content excluded, what is the concensus here on how much is needed to start a pay site and maintain said site before it starts turning a profit? Then what is the average length of time before, if you've done everything right, one should expect positive cash flow to start coming in?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

spend a few weeks reading articles and business threads about this industry and you will be able to answer your questions by yourself.... or more likely, you will see how stupid they are ;-)
    I don't use ICQ anymore.

While this industry is saturated if you find your own nich you will make money.
I have seen people dumping few hundred k and still falling apart where as few who started with few 100's is actually making 6k to 15k every month with just few sites.

Since different people have different experience I would suggest Do your research, and create your own business plan/goals. Becuase you know your self best

You should definitely start off with free sites and learn the industry before jumping head first into the paysite game.

          from my experience

I recently started a new site on my networks which will remain unnamed. This is by no means a guideline as thats impossible to determine. I opened a rather general theme being amateur coeds. It took 9 months to turn a profit despite me having knowledge of marketing in the first place. Content costs are going to be very high as your customers will want to see constant updates! The market is saturated as another poster suggested - you either have to be in the game already or provide a unique angle that really hooks the customer in.

But despite all this. The best advice offered earlier is before you take on such an endeavour is to try out a partner program., promote it and see how well you do. If you cannot make money promoting a well established site, you dont have a chance in hell of promoting your own.

Hope this helps and isnt too blunt.

              Yup!

Not to mention all the new 2257 regs might even make it a royal pain to stay in business for those of us well established in this racket.

Since I'm already a webhost, I did it for the cost of a domain name :D
