Has anyone here used online personal sites like yahoo personals to recruit models? I was at a latino site with personal ads and some of the girls were smoking hot. I am thinking of emailing them with a link to my models wanted page. Good idea or bad?

I've never used the personals, but I do routinely recruit in yahoo.
I'll tell you how I do it, but be warned. It is like finding a needle in a stack of needles. I do not shoot nudity. Only foot fetish stuff. But maybe my expereince will help you develop a game plan.
First off, I changed my 'nickname' so that it reflects I am looking for models, or talent, etc. Then I set up the profile with some basic info, webmaster e-mail, pic of the site I am recruiting for. I also fill out the links, and all the detailed stuff, as well as how long I've been a member. Which in my case has been 8 years.
I do, or use this one of two ways.
One, I just leave the handle signed into Yahoo and in some room. I go do other work, watch a movie, or whatever. Then when I get alerts someone has IM'd me, I go check to see if it's spam, or a real person. Then I show them a link of my models, and website. Tell them to go look at it, and if interested contact me again. If they do, I give them the info and see if they are interested.
Option two. I log on during peek hours. For the rooms I am in, this is normally afternoons, and evenings during the week. Honestly, it's slim pickens during the week, and best time is Friday night, Saturday and Sundays. But then I will bounce down my room of favorites making an announcement I am looking for models, etc, etc. Wait a few minutes and bounce again.
The results vary. Sometimes I will get hit with 5 IM's at once in one room, and other times not a one. You will get a lot of people who think you are shady, trying to pull a sham, or whatever. Best way to shut these mofo's up is have a page set up with your models, pix, and whatever. So they can see what you are about, post it in the room, and silence them.
You will get a lot of males who IM you, regardless of you saying you only want females. You will get a lot of others who want to get into the business, photographers, and alike IM'g you asking you a shit load of questions. You will get a grandma's (over 30, 40 etc) who will also contact you, so make sure you are clear on your ages you are looking for.
Make sure you message is clear, and concise.
Between myself, and female photographer, we've picked up 25% of our models from chatrooms, and they have been some of the better looking, and more reliable. But it is feast or famine, so be prepared. I've been doing this for a good... 6-8 months I'd guess, and there is no one thing that works best. It's almost like picking a jury. Get a good pool, and you are off to the races. Get a bad one, and you have your hand.
One other thing.. if you look at people's profiles, and they have a bunch of racy pix, IM them. Compliment them on their pix, and whatever. Do not sales pitch them right up front. Make some general convo. Example..

Something to that effect. But you get the point. If you read other threads, or caught Aaaron M's blog post on one of the other boards, you know your approach and delivery are the key to success.
