    hosting

I'm looking for virtual/shared hosting in either FreeBSD or any source-based Linux distributions. Space and traffic would be very low, but I'll need root access for the environment.

    Show me the money!

Not quite what I had in mind... I don't need a dedicated server, shared hosting suits me fine.

I don't know of many companies that will give root access on a shared account.... huge security risk.

              Good luck!

When I say root access I mean for a virtual server. That is, servers that are either run in a FreeBSD jail or User Mode Linux environment. I have seen a few providers doing this. On shared hosting box, no: root is not going to be allowed. To clarify, these boxes are still technically "shared", but each account is given its own chroot.

BTW, $200/month is way beyond what I'm looking for.

The package I have right now is $99/year for shared hosting with 400M space, 20G transfer limit. This is close to specs I am looking for, but I need root access from which I can configure all the servers that will be running.

Sorry but none of these bundles will work for me. I *need* a virtual server or both PostgreSQL and PHP5. If there are any bundles that have PHP5 and PostgreSQL, let's hear it, but basically I'll need a virtual server where I can compile my own applications.

Thanks to all those who have replied so far!
