guys would you recommend www.webair.com ? I need a server with PHP and mySQL to install one of my new adservers. Are these guys reliable ?

I saw some banners around , but would like to know more about them , before I sign up for their service.

Webair is good on some things, yes. They are a decent host for the money. I would not say the service is top notch.

When I first started with webair, they had me 80% up and running within 12 hours. But on the little tweaks I needed done, I had to call, e-mail, and submit trouble tickets repeatedly. On 5 different occasions in the past few weeks I was told I would be taken care of in the next 5-10 minutes, or before the end of their shift, and so on.. but then it would take two days of e-mails, instant message support, ICQ, and alike.

Most times it was not resolved until I took the extra step to copy and paste e-mails, and phone conversions into a trouble ticket, so it was officially recorded and had to be dealt with. Then they would fix part of a problem, and then leae the other. When I e-mailed back to say second part wasn't handled, I'd never heard back, and would again have to call, ICQ, e-mail, and finally submit a trouble ticket.

So in the end, yes they are decent as long as you can tell them from jump every little nook and cranny you need, want, and will ever need so it's done right on the first phone call when they take your payment. Otherwise, you may have some trouble.

Many on here use webair, or have at some point. Some also have good relationships with people over there, especially Mike. But I'd say unless you are one of their heavy hitters, or know someone, you might have some grief at some point.

Sometimes they did not answer the phone on off peak hours, and were not available when waiting 5-10 minute on their online client, so the 24/7 is sometimes there, and sometimes not. Best advice would be always, always, always fill out the trouble ticket. Atleast you will get an answer, even if it takes two days.

Beyond that, for the server/hosting, all is good more a less.

Thank you barefoot. I am someone who look for good customer service whether I am a small or big hitter. I do colo some of my servers here locally. But one of my new ups need a PHP, MySQL setup.

I think I am better off setting this up on my colo account instead of webair. I was expecting something fast and swift .

            Thanks for your input

              No problem.

I like to recommend people who provide superior service, and work with people who have a genuine interest in helping one another.

At the same time, since I am tied to noone, affiliate or otherwise, I will give my unbiased opinion so you can make an educated decision on such matters. Which is why I try and provide examples if possible.

I've been in the game a long time.. I have my own personal preferences, and such, but I ultimately try and give you the facts, and let you weigh out your decisions.

              Glad I could help.

                      Guys

After little bit of reserach, I found out that most virtual host providers (at least the ones I have found so far ) doesn't provide or will install Zend optimizer.

I am trying to install TGP and the script calls for

                      PHP4
                      mySQL
                      Zend optimizer
                      GD2 Graphics Library.
                      ImageMagick

Does it mean I have to get my self a dedicated server ? Or are there any shared host
or virtual hosting provider who will hook me up with the above

Glad to hear you got it resolved. Most of the stuff on your list, including database, and such is either installed out of the box, or they set it up for ya.

I use webair for www.wamtgp.com and they set everything up to work with Comus for me, such as the programs you listed above.

Plus their support is good. I called on a sunday morning and they took care of an issue for me while i held.

                            No problems.

Plus, they can set up custom plans for you if you need more storage or bandwidth, rather than just jumping you to the next plan.

                            No complaints.

Splosh Cash Wet and Messy Fetish Program
I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.
