    tsunami effect

First of all I should say that I mean no disrespect to the many thousands of people who died this weekend in the horrible tsunami that hit many parts of Asia. I just wanted to post my experience and share the ride of a life.

I was actually out in the ocean when the biggest wave hit Sri Lanka. I was there vacationing and was just able to get out this morning by private helicopter. I was trying to catch a few waves before coming in for breakfast when the water level started to rise. We decided to stay out of a few more when all of a sudden we saw the biggest wave I'd ever seen coming right at me. I paddled as fast as I could and just hung on for dear life. I ended up riding the big wave out as it actually went onto dry land and pounded into the village we were staying in. I rode over an entire parking lot of cars, over the top of a liquor store, down a main street and ended up landing in a park, which probably saved my life by not hitting a main structure. Anyway, it was quite a ride and I'll probably never get to ride a wave that big ever again. The worst part was that I lost my board, but I guess that's not bad compared to a lot of people.
