    Question about Public Access Television.

    Hi
I have about 6 hours of a cable access television show footage of a pretty big star, (who I will leave nameless) before they were famous. They have a pretty big fan base now, and I'm positive I'm the only one with this footage. I want to split the video footage up into video clips, and sell them on a website. Does anybody know if there are any copyright problems with selling Public Access TV video clips? I am assuming that since they are public access, nobody owns the rights to them, therefore there would be no legal problem with selling them? Anyone have any experience with this? or maybe would know if this would present a legal problem for me in the future? Any advice is appreciated. thanks.

Also, one more question, can anybody recommend a cheap web hosting site that doesn't mind hosting a large amount of streaming video clips (approx. 4 MB ea) for the users to download/stream? thanks...

no matter if you recorded it from public access television or from a pay-tv station: it's copyrighted like everything else. only because you get if for free, does not mean you can do with it what you want. you must have a license / permission to use the recorded material - anything else will get you in serious legal trouble for sure.

Yeah, that is copyrighted stuff and they get on top of infringers pretty quickly.

The now famous video of President Bush being alerted to the planes crashing in the World Trade Center at the Florida school was by public access, the networks didn't know what they had and videotapped over that with other tape of the day. That public access TV station licenses that video out for a flat $750 per showing.
