Total Newb Here - Looking to get started!

Hello Guys, I am looking to try my hand in this industry. I am a succesful webmaster with entertainment sites mostly. I really dont know anything about the porn industry, however I would like to make a site like worldsex.com, which are called TGP's right? I am pretty good at PHP/MySQL and I work with a few very good designers, so I have the ability to make a site such as worldsex, however I dont understand anything else. Do people submit their free galleries to sites such as worldsex so that they get free promotion. How much money can one make with a site such as worldsex, etc.. i think i need a mentor

The best tip anyone could ever give you is to stay in mainstream. Porn isn't for everyone and it definitely isn't newbie friendly. Most folks here wish they had something other than porn to be doing.

You will find or notice that some webmasters (WM) are scared of the future and what it has to bring, such as newbies. This board can be rough sometimes but keep in mind none of it means anything - at the end of the day; they do not pay your bills!

As groark, I recommend that you spend a lot of time reading - not referring to things you should already know (as you are a mainstream WM) - books that will further your skills and knowledge, such as search engine (SE) optimisation, internet marketing practices and etc. Also, become familiar with our industries terminology and love for misspelling words, so to know what some are talking about.

You should not have to dedicate your entire life (every waking minute of every fricken day) to this simply to make a living. If you find the right recipe you will be able to work 4-6 hour days while pulling in new sign-ups (SU)/joins, whether flat-rate or recurring, as well bringing in residual earnings from previous joins sent to some key recurring programs.

No matter what anyone tells you, this game is not difficult, it merely takes persistence/dedication.

Best of luck to you and if you need any assistance, hit me up via ICQ (123029302) or you can e-mail me

Worldsex is a really big one, it can seem easy to build a site like that or like thehun, but it's not so easy to keep the traffic up and to make decent money from it

Thanks for all the tips guys! (except for Armed & Hammered)
As I mentioned before I have been quite succesful with main stream sites, but have become interested in trying my hand in the porn sector because ive heard of people making lots of money in this industry and I dont have any moral objections to it.

Would someone mind telling me what type of site WorldSex is? What is it called? I know it isnt, but it seems simple to make a site like that (not getting traffic), aslong as I had enough people submitting links to free sites. Then ofcourse one would signup with lots of paysites affiliate programs etc.. I know im oversimplifying things but.. ya.. It does seem difficult to promote a free porn sites as most search engines dont like adult content, i guess the main way one can achieve a popular site is through providing quality content and link exchanges.

Sign up for a sponsor in my sig, create a gallery from their content and buy some traffic from choker or other good source and send it all to the gallery and watch the results.

Ir you are lazy just buy traffic and send to one of their rotating galleries...

              Thats all. Happy New Year!

Warning, many people try to migrate from mainstream biz to adult biz and fail.

I'm hardly an expert with only 3+ years in the biz - only 6 promoting adult sites full-time - but I can say that the relatively little I've learned has been based on:

                    1) Read the boards A LOT (like this one). There are some pretty smart webmasters and you can pick up a lot of knowledge (not to mention seeing 1000's of photochopped Juicy images)

                    2) Get out to events, if possible. Webmaster parties are cool, the people are great, they drink a lot and you will meet a lot of people referred to in #1

                    3) Make mistakes. You will, but the key is to learn from them just like in any other biz.

                    4) Find something to promote. Find something you think has a potential future and stick to it. Don't try and promote everything under the sun. Adult VOD is pretty interesting right now, for example. Cams IMO are a winner with incredible revenue sharing potential. Even midget asian women with blonde hair ... hey, it's a small market but shouldn't be hard to get #1 on Google.

                    5) Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Related to #4 but in this case I'm talking about relying on one source of traffic or one sponsor. If you get ALL your traffic from Google, for example, and they either dump your site(s) one day or flip the algo on you it will be devastating. Same with sponsors. If you promote only 1 site or a few from 1 sponsor not only do you risk a serious setback if they fold (or other catastrophe) but you'll also limit yourself - other sponsors of the same niche may convert a lot better. Try a bunch out and see what works, then cut down to promoting the best few.

                    6) Prepare for ackward occasions at family gatherings. "So [insert family nick name for you here], what have you been doing lately?"

                    7) Work like a mother, every day. Every chance you get. Just like any other business, you'll get out what you put in.

Okay, i'm back to work. Good luck!

Keep your word and hold up your end of the bargain. This industry is swift. If you fuck someone over, everyone will know it and know quickly. Remember that its all a two way street.
