    What should I encode in?

What's a couple good formats to throw clips on the web in?

I've seen mpeg2 around a fair bit- but it's really bad at lower rez. Tried windows media 9 which is fairly good but... You get the idea.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

I like .mov - but alot of the users prefer .rm (I just cant make them get a reasonable size with good quality).

The .wmv isnt bad at all i think, it gives impressive quality compared to the filesize it seems, i´ve just had some problems with people not able to play them - which is weird, given it comes with windows...

Yeah, I had assumed WMV would be an easy format to provide in- but as it turns out I've had many folks come to me without windows media 9.

I would have assumed that MOV wouldn't be something as readily supported and installed, but I'll definitely give it a try.

RM though? I thought real media had a pretty wack quality compared to current technologies.

I've just recently moved from live centered to static/progressive download content- which with my tweaked codec selection (VP61/AAC) I could get RIDICULOUS compression ratios at high FPS/Resolution stuff.

Only downside is that the user either needed to have Winamp2.06+ installed, or be comfortable enough to install the activex control we provided. (we used NSV)

Here is what I got with WMV after a little playing around:
