Tracking software

While trying to help someone out, I reached an area where I do not shine.

a). Regarding tracking software or service, what are some of you using?

b). List some details.

Ultimately, I am looking for something that tracks traffic - a click on a link and where it has ended up. I am not concerned with 'classifications' of the traffic (RAW, unique, first, second, yadda-yadda).

Therefore, if a person clicks on an affiliate link code, the product must provide a list of where the click leads to and its final destination.

(To me, any company that is in the business of tracking should meet the expectations listed above. After spending some time researching, I notice most products do not offer half of what they should be, which I do not understand ... to track is to track. If they are not tracking the existence or life of a click, than what are they tracking?

I see what you're saying.
I use a lot of scripts from x3scripts.com They could probably write you something custom. The server load can get pretty heavy when tracking that much data.

I'm far from being an expert on the subject, but I haven't come across a program or script that CAN track what people click on AFTER they leave your site. I wouldn't even think it's possible unless when someone clicks your link and it puts that site in an i-frame with a small bar on the top or bottom of the page like hotmail does.

Going off topic or to explain:
