    Traffic advice.

I recently just quit my job as systems administrator/web application programmer for AmateurHosting.com/AllCamz.com. I've also just bought $4,000 in content from such places as David Lace.

After speaking to my friend Dan, who owns a large amateur site with his wife, and showing him my intended site layout, he let me know that he has no experience marketing a Professional based site.

Because I'm using pro galleries, and sharp images, along with the site being just a mega site, his advice was to do two things to drive traffic to my site (which is not up yet, still sorting through thousands of pictures to match up chiqz):

TGP the Professional site as much as I can (but don't go overboard), which links to my site's Tour.

He suggested that I then make a seperate front door that emulates an Amateur site (based on some imaginary amateur), so that I can take full advantage of dead traffic that doesn't sign up on my tour by popping up from my tour to 3 different pages:

    1) a page which contains my cash-affiliate links
    2) my amateur frontdoor's tour page
    3) a link list that the amateur frontdoor site is featured on.

This in his opinion will help keep the high-bandwidth cost of TGP'n so much worthwhile by feeding the non-interested ppl into the amateur site, giving them more links to click and maybe a niche they are interested in.

In the end, my concern is if this sounds like a good idea. Should I stick to just TGP'n my Pro esque site? Is there any other good methods of driving traffic to my main Pro esque site other than buying traffic?

What is my best alternative to drive a good amount of traffic, that will generate a significant amount of signups within a 2 month period?

Any help would be appreciated :P

And if any of you webmasters need a perl/php guru lemme know. I can create any script you can dream up ;]

Hi Cunnyfunt (great username btw!), I can definetely help drive a ton of TGP traffic to your site. Please check out our site Gallery Submit Service and contact me if you have any questions. It would be a great way to get some strong traffic coming to your sites for a very small price.
    Thanks
    DH

David lace has very good looking content,..as far as traffic you do however outlined a firm plan of acttack..but then again. you perhpas lack the traffic base? is this what I'm getting here?
you should start drumming up traffic with leader pages..bettween
thumbing through your pics! don't waiste too much time..start producing hits/visitors ASAP.. the old saying is: I built a swell hotel
but theres no guests.. start marketing.. my opinion

1,000,000 crappy hits will cost you in bandwidth alone what a decent ppc search engine listing will cost to give you good targeted clicks.
        eventually, earth will lose.
        enjoy it while it lasts.

          DrinkingHard,

my budget right now can't fit in "buying traffic", I'm looking more on the lines of "hard work paying off".

          ClickPimp,

I don't understand the term "ppc", and I am going to include search engine submittions as part of my traffic plan, I just didn't note it as I figured it's kind of mandatory.

Anyone else with advice to give? Still need another solid idea to go hand in hand with my current search engine/"friends page"/TGP traffic plan.

Thanks for the replies so far.

ppc = pay per click .
The search engine gives you a listing but every time some one clicks it you pay.Usually the cost is from ,say 5 cents up to 25 cents , depending on several factors.
If you use a well crafted description ,you'll get reasonably good traffic.

                          De Zonnebank,

To get a number 1 position in for example google. (like we have).
Just make a start page, with your search term in it.

For example (type "zonnebank" at google) and you will get my site on the number 1 position

Type "zonnebank webcam or solarium cam" and see us climbing to the top 10.

                          No costs at all.

                          De Zonnebank
