Hello,
Ok, this may sound entirely foolish (and feel free to tell me if it is
) - but I was thinking....the hackers/bruteforcers etc have these huge password forums, in which they post passwords to paysites to surfers - either for free it seems, or they charge people to access all or parts of the forum.
From a webmaster point of view, of course this is wrong and annoying - not mentioning potentially expensive if they´re managing to use up loads of bandwidth to freeriders. But. Most of us have protection software of various kinds, that tries to prevent the hackers from accessing, and if they do, try to rule out breached passwords by IP checks and all. So in the big picture, at least i´ve never had any serious problems with their efforts - theyve gotten in a couple of times, then posted it somewhere public it seems - as the pass has gotten disabled by the multiple IP checker.
Anyway. Some of these password trading forums seems to have HUGE amounts of users. I´ve seen some with like a 100.000 users, and seemingly big amounts of them online. Now, in some ways - thats a good audience for marketing. Theyre certainly interested in porn, sometimes its event segmented in niches (gay, fetish etc) so you´d hit a niche specific audience, furthermore links posted wouldnt be considered spam as theyre looking for exactly that.
So. Would it be an idea to actually post either real passes (that of course wouldnt last long, because they´d be either auto or manually disabled) or simply fake passes at these forums.
If its posted like: http://www.sexsite.com Login:sexy Pass:woman you would actually send people to your main page, you know theyre after porn and might get tempted, they might get a short sneak-peak of your members area - but else they´ll just be exposed to the usual sales pitch from the main page.
Of course I´m aware, that a big load of these are pure freeriders, that wouldnt pull out their creditcard however horny they got, but the same could be said - maybe even more so - for TGP´s, toplists etc....and some percentage might just fall for it.
Secondly, it might attract more hackers (or whatever they call themselves) - but then, if they finally found an extra pass, that´d actually somehow just be another guy doing the promo for you (of course given that the security at the site isnt all messed up and spits out all the passes and never disables them)
What do you think?
