    When people say convert?

Dos this mean convert hits in to signups or what? Know where do I find where it says exactly what convert means. I know this is a newbie question but we all have to start somewhere.

Yes, it means the number of unique visitors it takes to bring in a signup. There's an adult webmaster "dictionary" but I forget the URL
    Maybe someone has is...

Thanks for the reply. I may be new to this industry but not to forums, it would be so mych easier to learn with out asking stupid questions if the search was enabled, on he other hand with the amount of hits this site takes they would need a server just for the search.

I may have a few(100 or more) STUPID quesions along the way, but please keep in mind that there is NO sarch engine here and to take the time to go thru all the posts one at a time, I may as well go and get a real job and get paid nothing to do it.

that is exactly what they mean. A visitor goes to your page, and if he buys a membership, he 'converted'.
So if out of 500 visitors, 1 buys, your conversion ratio is 1 in 500 or 1:500

Very cool, not too many people have it in them to help another. I infact do have another question lots of them really. I have a host and a domain name, I have average html skills, php, mysql blah blah blah. I want to start a site but I am finding it hard to know exactly where to start putting the content together, I have rad about tgp sites and may want to trry this kind of site first. Do you know of any tgp manualls per say to help me get set up and started?

One of my favourite resources (with out having to weed through a bunch of crap and sarcasm) is
              CozyFrog

Take a quick glance at the start as it has what you are looking for.

P.S. the only stupid question that I can think of is; 'why did I not ask that sooner?'
