    moving off AVS

this question may be asked alot, but search is disabled - so here goes

my site is currently part of the adultbouncer network. sales have been going strong so i think its time to get it off adultbouncer so i can retain more of each sale rather than getting only $15 per sale.

    so my questions are:

1)which credit card processor should i use? i see some like ibill have a fee of 30% which seems very high, while others are charging 3% which makes me wonder about their services

2)what are some things i should look for in a cc processor that will make it an easy transition away from avs?

3)any tips that would have helped you when you opened your first independent site?

4)when is it time to pay for services to protect from hackers: ex: pennywize

5)how do the passwords work? say i make a sale and the surfer sets up their password, will i have to manually add that username and password to give them htaccess or will that be done automatically with special services?....

    6)anything else???

    thanks for the advice!

      1) I use ccbill and their charge is 13-15% .. don't know where you got 30% from.
      2) A transition from AVS to paysite is quite a large leap as sales may be strong, but as soon as you take away "9000GB" of content.. your members wont be quite as loyal, so shop around, ccbill, ibill, epoch each one of them suits different needs.
      3) Don't open it thinking it's an 'easy ride' - AVS pretty much takes care of you, with paysites you're on your own.
      4) A.S.A.P - You don't need to buy the best password protection programme immediately, unless you're sure you can push 20-30 sign-ups daily/monthly whatever, but have something that deals with passwords.
      5) Good billers install scripts so that when a user signs-up it'll automatically add to your .htaccess. You shoudl also check that your password protection script is compatable with your biller.
      6) I'd just like to re-state that don't jump into paysites because your AVS site is doing well, AVS is reletively easy, while paysites are a little harder.
6.a) Also take into consideration, adultbouncer deals with hosting and takes pretty much all the charges [bandwidth, biller charges, etc] so when they take 50% it's pretty fair.. as some sites push mbits in days.. I know mine does.

If you wanna talk hit me up - ICQ in sig.

            thank you for the advice

i already host everything myself. i was having alot of trouble with adultbouncer's hosting and it was killing my site so i just decided to pay for it myself and save the hassle.

            now more questions

how much content (video time) should i have before i move off avs?
how often would i need to update to keep my members on the rebill list?
where should i shop for a password protection script?
