Video editor???

I never used any video editor so here is a newbie question...

I need a video editor that can:
* take screenshots from movies,
* cut them in smaller pieces,
* add watermarks

What can you recommend?

I use different programs for each of those steps.

To take screencaps I usually use Virtual Dub. It allows you to set the frame rate for how often you want it to capture the image. The more the better. A lot of times it will take 1,000 screencaps to get 100 decent pics. A frame rate of 0.15 will give you roughly 100 pics on your average lengh scene.

For cutting I use BatchCut, custom program but you can use DivX or something along that line.

Watermarking? That job goes to either ProCoder (it is about $500 bucks for the program) or Windows Media Encoder will do the trick.

Not sure if there is one that can do it all well...if there is I would like to get ahold of it myself.

Adobe Premiere will do all of those things.

A lot of people also like to use Vegas Video. I have no experience with Vegas but I imagine that it can do all of those tasks.

Final Cut Pro is outstanding. Can do all that and more. It is Mac only, which is the only OS that is worth a damn for Video. Have a g5 that handles all of my editing.

Vegas is great! It will do all of those things except for screencaps.
