    Own a domain?

Is it physically possible to own a domain name? What I mean is, instead of renting a domain name every year from a registrar, can you physically own the name that you register? This would be cool because you could park and use the name anywhere without fear of it expiring or being taken from you. Also, from what I understand of this mess, even big companies like Nike and Pepsi can lose their domain names if they fail to re-register them. So is it possible to own but not rent a domain name?

I think you may have a misconception about domain names. 1. If you register it you own it as long as it is not a trademark of another company or has infringed upon a company. 2. You are just renewing it on a register and as long as you renew it before it expires (sometimes up to 45 days after it expires) you don't have to worry about anyone taking it. Some registers have a register lock to assure this. 3. The big companies overlook the little things. Most registers send an email to the registrant or billing contact with 30--60 days of expiration. Of course the registers want you to remain their customers so they spam you to death. 4. Register your names or transfer them at namecheap.com for $8.88 per year. I hope this helps.

P.S. I have a ton of good adult domain names for sale! Email [email protected] for more info!
