    Starting a member site

I am very interested in starting a member site. I've played with TGP's etc.. but not worth it anymore (possibly not even for member sites) as their are so many. Is it really worth even attempting to start a member site now days? If so where can I find or who can talk with me and give me a bunch of info on starting a member site. Thank you

my advice is to find a niche and specialize in that area.

    something very narrow.

there is still alot of $ to be made.

I agree... It's a tough market all round but I think a speciality niche is your best bet.
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60. Let me repeat... A 120 x 60 button and no more that 3 lines of DEFAULT SIZE AND COLOR text.

I would also think about how much you want to spend.

I think the best way to get started with member sites is premium AVS. I started with AVS & learned how to get traffic, how to tweak my tour until it converted well, all on their dime. Free hosting, no Visa fees & with so many other sites in the network, my members just keep rebilling.

I have paysites now too, but it was a great way to finance buying content, a dedicated server etc. My AVS rebills are still better than my paysite ones.

I have a membership software with a custom coded backend for credit card payments. Let me know what you have in mind - we can partner up maybe...

Another thing to add is, try to shoot your own content. For a good paysite you'll need unique and exclusive content.

Choose narrow, better extreme niche. About own content - good advise.

I'm starting a niche site and shoot my own content. What I would like to know is about member submitted galleries. Is there a way to set it up so my paying members can send in pix into galleries and when 1 gallery is full a new gallery will start up? Or do I need to have them sent to me and then I add them? Will MySQL work for this?
                          Thanks in advance,
                          windman

MySQL is a database, what you are describing would require a serverside script. I guess you could use a database, but it would be easier to throw all the images in a folder and use a PHP script index them on the fly and handle uploads.
