How to improve image quality?

Hi!

I wonder if someone is willing to help me:

I always asked myself if there is standard procedure to make images look good and juicy. When I look at many websites the pictures are always sharp and crystal clear - with very strong colours. But the size of the files is quite small. Do you fix every picture by hand with Photoshop or is there a tool which makes it more easy?

1. Copy and paste the layers
2. New layer: filter\artistic\plasticwrap
3. Chance layer mode to overlay and lower the opacity (20-30).

Got problems with changing the layer mode - where do i do this?

btw: looks funny to me - got an example anywhere how it should look correctely?

Drop down menu in the layers window. (normal) and opacity right next to it.

Try these settings on plastic wrap:
Highlight 5
Detail 7
Smoothness 15

Just play with the plastic wrap and opacity...

had some translation problems with the german version
