how much do you think a programmer makes?

Do you think there is alot of money to be made from doing customized programming? Would you ever pay someone to do custom work for you? What do you think it would be worth?

We have paid good people $50 per hour, and BAD AWFUL people more than that.

The secret seems to be to find a need for a program and write it yourself... Then sell same. That way you have something to show and make dough on at the same time.

In house programmers make anywhere from $10 to $30 per hour though most companies seem to want to salary you. Then you make less than minimum wage.

I do custom development, and due to the fact i get alot of repeat customers / word of mouth advertisement, i make some decent money.
