I have a buddy who dated a stripper for awhile, and now this stripper and her friends are entertaining the idea of a porn site. My buddy would record everything and I would run the website part of it, my question though as I've never done this before, is how hard is it to get started. How much content would be needed to start the site and the legalities.

I think it's fair to say that it would be incredibly difficult to get started and have great success. This is only because you have very little experience and wouldn't really know how to get started. It's always better to start small and work your way up to the big time, but you can jump right in if you're so inclined.

The amount of content you offer has to reflect the amount you are charging for the same and it's specific niche. Straight heterosexual porn with the same people will probably become boring overtime. If you mix up the content, niche and characters and/or add distinguishable twists you can charge more. We have hosted sites that started with as little as 200MB of content and seen them grow into successes. However if you have limited content then I suggest you charge a low fee and have a solid plan to acquire/shoot more content.

Next you need to make sure you have ID and signed model releases for all the participants. Then find you a host who offers scalable plans and great service. Naturally I suggest you consider Uncensored-Hosting

Last but not least you need a way to collect money from your sites. There are two schools of thought here:

Pay the Visa/MC registration fees and use somebody like CCbill or use Verotel who does not require the Visa/MC fees. This one is a personal choice, however if you intend to stay around in this game you need to get your own merchant account adult merchant account and/or consider the possiblity neither of the aforementioned options will survive the industry changes. The later may be pricey. Whatever you do stay the hell away from Probilling

If you have not experience in paysites it is really really difficult you will see money in a short time period, it is sure you will have to invest(maybe lose) a decent amount for the start-up
