Does site design really matter?

I am experimenting with My Fist Adult Website

So far I have 4 conversions with around 80 clicks.

I know it's not that great looking, but I have a feeling simple/funny will convert.

Do you guys think if I put effort into making a nice design it would produce better? Compared to simple with alot of updates/photos/links plastered all over the place neatly?

i think as long as its easy to use, you can read the text easily and any images on the site arent crap then the site would work.

Ive seen some awful sites people have made by themselves but they convert because of the content and traffic.

I think for some types of sites simple is better than looking really professional

good design will not help u to convert more
in most of the cases
it just can attract more adverters

but good layout is increaseing your sells

If the it's a nice Design it does help a lot but then in the end it depends on the content you use for your mainpage and tours.

andy, the former writer of sexswap newsletter used to do lab experiments on this exact subject. he found that a gorgeous site vs. an amateur-looking site showed no real difference in conversions. of course, this was some time ago so the results may have changed. (which way though?)

my theory is it's all about the content and customer service (to keep them coming back for more

It may not make much difference in convertions but it seems like a well-designed site would make a difference in bookmarkers.

It's all relative really. It doesn't need to look professional, but it does need to be easy to use. You can't have colors that burn someone's retinas, or text that's impossible to read. As long as it's easy to navigate and it's clear what you're selling you don't need to shell out money for a design or improve your skills.

It's my site, but it just jumped to 1:150 or so.

I only have a small text link to the adult site.
Thinking about advertising the adult site more on it, and see if I can get more conversions. But before I do that I need to produce a nicer adult site. See if I get better conversion with a well thought out/designed site.
