ev1servers?

I was thinking about getting a server from ev1servers . Anyone have any experience with them?

EV1 server's is the McDonalds of hosting. If you want a bigmac, go ahead, but if you're going to ask for a steak - best check someone else out ;). They're completely UnManaged, they WILL unplug your system if they get any abuse complaints (could be forged or not).

Other then that, we've managed lots of systems for customers on EV1/RackShack, they are remotely good, and stable. The 10mbit servers are 10mbit ports, and not 10mbit 95% percentile so you can't burst - the rest of the servers are 100mbit ports.

I have 2 boxes at ev1servers ... I dont really have a problem with them since I know how to do server administration myself and their prices are good, ping/speed is nice too ... the one issue with them is if you submit a support request for anything harder than "reboot my server" it takes 1,2,even 4 days for them to complete it, and when they do half the time they say something along the lines of out of support boundaries, or they dont do what you asked in the first place. However, if you know what you're doing as far as server management, its a pretty nice choice.

Ev1servers is a great place for such things as non-critical hosting like hosting general TGP galleries. If you know how to manage a server, go with them.

What about sever matrix , same deal as ev1 as far as quality goes?

Unless you get a server, from someone who has people on this board, you probably won't be happy with their service...

If not me, I'd reccomend ISPrime or hahahahahaha.

i use both ev1servers and servermatrix... been with ev1 for awhile..

both places are unmanaged... if u can do your own sysadmin, i'd highly recommend it... hell, even if you can't, getting boxes from them and contracting out server setup/maintenance is prolly cheaper than going with most hosting providers..

ev1 charges $350/10Mbps.. get some sysadmin to setup the server will run you $100-200, one time fee... helluvalot cheaper than some of these places that charge $4-600 for 10Mbps.. what a joke, as the bulk of the work is setting up the box.. and servermatrix is even cheaper..

as a word of advice, because their prices are so cheap, get a little more bandwidth than u need... redundancy helps you sleep at night..

I have had no problems with either my EV1Servers box or my 2 boxes with ServerMatrix.

If you're not afraid to manage your own box, it's a good deal.
