    What Is The Point:

Before I quit the business and began anew, among other sites, I operated a TGP for about a year. I touched upon trading traffic for a short period of time. I did not seem to get an influx of traffic or an increase in sales so I dropped it. I never did like the use of a blind link in the first place.
Upon reflection it seems to me that trading traffic is circular and the same traffic is being pushed from one trading partner to the next.

This may drive up your hit counters, but what is the point of pushing the same traffic around? Is the point much like a CJ site; piss off the surfer from being misled by blind links so that he will signup for a paysite?

Maybe some of you will take the time to educate me about the benefits of trading traffic, and also the downside of trading traffic.

    Thanks

Man, I don't know, but your post makes me feel good, because I don't understand a goddamn thing about how adult traffic works. I mean, yeah, I get the concept, but how it could work for my site, I just don't understand, because it seems like to trade traffic I would have to hurt myself with Google.

Myself, I focus on SEO. I put my energies into making my site come up on the first few pages of Google when people type specific words: girl girl, anal lesbians, lez -- that sort of thing.

But here's the deal in defense of traffic traders: People tend to be impatient and skeptical. They want results overnight, and the only way to do that is to trade traffic.

Like I could build a 20-page gallery on my domain, link to it from key pages on my site, and then link to your site from every page in the gallery.

In six months you would have 5000 unique visitors a day that are coming straight from Google, from my gallery, to your site. But would you want to wait that long, especially if you paid me? Would you think I'm full of shit after the first month and you only get a couple dozen visitors from me? I sure would if I hadn't been watching my stats for a couple years and understanding how it works. Anybody would.

The deal is SEO work is slow. Even if you get a few critical links from high ranking sites, even if you optimize every page perfectly without cheating, you still have to wait six months for Google to give you credit for your effort. Make the slightest mistake, trade links with a spammer, have your site go down for a few day because of hosting problems -- boom, you're dinged for another six months.

So, I don't know. I can see how some people want to buy traffic or trade traffic and I can see how if they have the right content or the right affilliate programs they make money. I just don't see how I can make it work for me.

You use the traffic to feed your trades and to increase the value of your website. It also helps boost your PR (when done in the right way) of your tgp and it gives you great opportunities into selling traffic to a third party.

The downside is that it hardly generates any sales and forces you to upgrade your hosting, but I believe that with the right tactics their is no bad traffic.

i never had a sign up from a gallery i submitted to a tgp no matter how many thousands of visitors they sent me. i guess that's because their traffic is recycled and pushed from one tgp to another. on the other hand, i am quite happy with the quality of traffic i get from SE. few pages positioned well on a SE with very little content are making me all the sales.

that's why i no longer submit to tgps and don't trade traffic. but a hard link exchange makes sense, is fair, and works for all involved.

So, what you are saying is that it would be advisable to use traffic trades initially to help build up your site, then taper off and focus on SEO?

That makes sense to me...plus, as stated, that is the fair thing to do. I concur with the other poster stating that most become impatient with expecting instant success...it's just like any other business, it takes dedication, hard work, and talent.

I've been researching this for about a year now...and I just have one site (www.xxxtoymart.com), but it uses the main company's template (limited options as far as the customisation abilities).

Anyways, I'm still researching, because up until recently, most of this shit didn't make sense to me...I had to stop forcing the issue, so to speak.

The one thing that I have going for me is that my enthusiasm has not waned since last year, and has in fact grow even more, now that this is starting to make sense.

I would like to thank everyone on here who has provided me with priceless advice. I will definitely be leaning on some of you guys in the future. I wish the best of luck to everyone!

                    Take care.
