    Browser control within HTML pages??

Hi..Is there any way to control the surfers browser functions from my html page.

I have my IE view text size set at smaller,
So, when I designed my site, it ends up looking best when at this size.

Now, if surfer sets his tect size at large, larger, etc..it's gonna make the site look all fucked up..
Anyway to make it so the font & layout ALWAYS look the same no matter what the surfer has text size set at??

I feel that it is best to design your sites around the default settings for windows and ie.

This way you are looking good to the newbies who dont know how to change anything yet :o)

set text size in pixels (use css - cascade stylesheet)

I think you would have to use ActiveX.

If you change a surfer's text settings, you will create alot of pissed off surfers of which some might complain to the right authorities that you "hacked" their machine and they would be right...Not a good idea.

          Hacked their machine...Authorities..oh my..

Not quite so..I don't want to HACK their machine, just control the properties & elements within my site..
I'll try the .css with text at pixels.

So, anybody know how many pixels = a font pt.

Much better idea...and I think pixels and points are 1to1 at 72dpi, but I could be wrong.

I agree with designed around the default of "medium" font size... and when you make your tables and text and whatever.... keep in mind that somewhere, someone will be fucking around with it. So make it flexible enough to bend. Check it yourself with different text sizes if need be.
