I have heard a bunch of mixed advice about making $ with mailers or spam... I don't know much about it.. I do know that lots of webmasters are in to it... Can we get some comments about mailers, good or bad, profitable or not, where to start or purchase an email database????? or maybe just forget about it because of that new Cali law that will take effect in Jan??

My advice, its not worth the pain and aggravation you will get from users like myself that are so sick of spam that they will nmap your machine looking for vulnerbilities, drive your IDS nuts, complain to all contact addresses at your ISP, bitch at your upstream providers, call the contact number(s) for your domain, make sure that your home and office snail-mail addresses are on all the bulk mail mailing lists for all the catalogs in the world (virtually drowning out your real mail and bills) and maybe a few lawsuits to keep your lawyer busy.

stay away from spam dude..i used to spam usenet groups with a proggie (that was the year 2000) and they flamed my ass so bad i still have blisters after 3 years.
In these times with all the fucked up fines you can get you're either braindead or suicidal

If this is all true, how come I still get hundreds of fucking spam emails every single day
If I had to resposnd to each one of them, I would have worked 24/7/365 just for that and maybe more.

Spam is a hot topic, and will get you banned from your provider or worse thats a given, but any webmaster who overlooks the power of having a good double optin list is missing out on a flip the switch marketing solution.
Legitimately collect subscribers who agree to getting emails and give them an incentive to sign up and you are off to the races.
Subcribers stay on lists who give good info or offers on a regular basis.
