    Basic Conversion Ration Question

    Hey just a quick question. When you mention conversion ratios like 1:200 etc. is this 1 conversion for every 200 visitors or every 200 clicks on a banner?

    Just wanting to get a sense of perspective?

      if you are converting at 1:200 it means you sent 200 people to a sponsor (they clicked on your banner) and 1 person signed up.

      you may have 10,000 people hit your page, send 200 people to a sponsor and 1 person signup.

      Your clickthru ratio is .02 or 2 percent

      When people say they had 10,000 hits and no signups they generally mean they had 10,000 hits to their page, not that they sent 10,000 people to the sponsor. If they did that they are better off getting out of the biz.

        Thanks Mikey. That makes a lot of sense. Next basic question.

        What are some average ratios for the following.

        E-mail sites

        Free Trials

        Pay Sites

        Toys & Products.

        Anyone?

          depends on the traffic you have and the sponsor you are sending to.

          each combination will yeild a different result.

          it is hard to test with only a low volume of traffic but trial and error is best.

          i find working with earning to hit ratios rather than convertions give a better picture. you want to know which makes the most money not which converts best.

            $0.0065 per unique vistor to my sites incase you are interested.

            eg.

            1k = $6.5
            100k = $650

              Your ratio will depend on the quality of your traffic.

              You might convert 1:700 with tgp traffic and 1:125 with avs traffic and 1:450 with free site traffic.

              If you convert over 1:2500 with a sponsor, which a few seem to do on this board with certain sponsor, you should switch to another sponsor that maybe you could get a better ratio with.
