I got an ICQ from someone yesterday asking where one of my sites went and I wasn't sure what he was talking about so I went and had a look. What I found didn't make my day in the least. I have been using a small local hosting company since day one and haven't had any major problems until now. Currently I have somewhere around 20 domains all pointing to different IP's on 4 different virtual accounts, well that's what I had, I should say. Without letting any of their customers know, they decided to point EVERY ONE of the domains they host to the SAME IP # and use some sort of name based system instead. I called them up and told them that if anybody that hosts through them gets their IP banned from a search engine then everyone could possibly and most likely would be banned as well. They disagreed and said that engines use names rather than IP #'s and acted like I had no idea what I was talking about. Maybe I don't but that would mean alot of search engine resource sites don't either, since this is where I get my information.
Does anybody know if there are any other problems I can inform them about with this new setup? Am I mislead about engines banning IP's or should I just go ahead and get banned from the bigger engines to try and prove my point?...lol
