Where do we go from here?

Hello all,

My husband and I have been at this adult site thing for about 6 months now, and have been having a great deal of luck with the AP programs. Our question is, where do we go from here now? We would like to "move up the food chain" so to speak, and think about getting a domain, a true hosting service, credit card payments, our own content, and moving into the affiliate realm. Is this something that is possible for us at this time? We would like to stop working for other people, and work for ourselves...both at home and within the adult internet entertainment realm.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for taking the time to comment.

Depends on a lot of things:

Do you have a budget to spend?
Do you ahve a webmasterbase for the affiliate part of the adventure?

If you want to test if you have what it takes use an AVS service to accept members if that works out well chances are good you can do your own paysite and make it.

My husband and I invested a small amount of money in advertising, and tried out a few programs. The AP program was the best for us by far, and given the success we have had in the last 8 weeks, he has decided to give me $1,000.00 to get this off the ground, as well as offering to design the websites for me(he does this professionaly at this point in time and would like to stop working for someone else and work out of the home).

The answer to your second question is no, I do not have a webmasterbase.

I think getting a domain, and a true hosting service are the next 2 steps. I tend to believe that if you want to move forward you have to make that leap.

Like Wolfshade said, try out a AVS site 1st, it's like having your own paysite, except you have alot MORE content to offer your members. Because $1000 isn't going to get you into the paysite realm IMHO.

Pay sites CAN be incredibly expensive.

I know of someone that spent almost a million dollars to get one off the ground...That was a few years ago mind you.

In your initial post you stated that you wanted to move up the food chain. Going to avs sites is the next logical step (rung in the ladder)

In terms of actual cost to start a paysite, it depends on how much content you want to offer your members.

Do you do content yourself?

Having original content is certainly the most effective way to garner sign ups and keep your members recurring.

If you or someone can provide content for the site it need not be overly expensive.

But trust me on this....$1000 is not going to get you very far in owning a paysite that will is profitable.
