Basic link question

Ok, I need to link to a zip file. I tried just straight linking to the zip file in the proper directory like this:
http://blahblahblah.com/dir/dir/zipfile.zip

but when a visitor clicks on it instead of asking where they want to save it the windows goes blank, and starts to spew a crazy font all across the screen.

What the fuck am I doing wrong.

I want a "save this file as" type of window to open so they can save it.

No, after reading your post I realized that it must work for you but not me. Why? I figured you must have used IE. So I tried it on IE and you're right, it works fine. So then, why doesn't it work in Netscape 4.6?

See your href tag? It should read <a ref="http://www.leeannonline.com/exampledirectoryname/Leeann-06.zip"> as well as the img src should read the full URL to make it faster for one thing. Netscape reads a more pure ofrm of html where IE will read Gates trash code. lol

Using the ./ for URL's slows the browser reads. <S> Try and see if that works.

try adding the space target=underscoreBLANK" the your bracket. Add that in right after the filename.zip" and don't cap the blank He thinks it needs to go to a new window to pop netscape's open command. If that doesn't do it he'll figger it out. Been awhile since he's worked for netscape browsing and he forgets things promptly if he doesn't work with them everyday. Took a shovel to the head 3 yrs ago.

The fucked up thing is that I built a template for that site, and used it on close to 1000 pages. FUCK!

It looks like all my URL's, need to be switched to absolute URL's. There's a fucking weekend wasted!

Make a cut and paste table for the URLs that are repetitive and speed things up. He changes all the photoshop galleries that way since they use the ./ sequencing BS.
