Is there a program that somehow lets you cut a complete site-layout (one image) into several pieces and automatically genrates the html code with the tables and puts the appropriate images into them .. ?

Yeah, there are a few in fact. I would personally recommend Macromedia Fireworks because it interfaces nicely with Dreamweaver, but I'm sure others would prefer Adobe ImageReady.
In addition, they will optimize each slice for the best compression as well. Really sweet!
If you don't feel like shelling out $ for the program, feel free to contact me and we can work something out. I've been a designer for years and would be happy to work out a deal for you -

but either way it's better to touch the generated html by hand to optimize it for more complex design effects, which you just can't achieve in a single image - blending with and manipulating page backgrounds, adding text elements and stuff like that.Comment
