I get a lot of Proxy hits to my site. What is the purpose of using a proxy and why do people use?

It could be a hitbot. Or just surfers who wants to remain anonymous.
If you get many hits from the same proxy, it could be a hitbot, so watch your trade.Comment

I get a lot of hits from cache-????.proxy.aol.com and that is not a hitbot. People often use aol proxies. Cheaters use elite proxies and you never know that is real ip address or just another not transparently server.Comment
