    Best Webcam Software

I'm looking to do a webcam site that has live streaming video (not jpeg push crap--I mean an actual live-encoded stream) and audio as well. The input would be from a miniDV cam, so it has to be able to handle that--compress it live & stream it and all that.

Anybody know the best software package to do this? Payware, shareware, freeware, whatever. I'm sure not absolutely all the sites out there write their own software, so... there's gotta be something.

    Thanks for the help.

    I guess you're in luck.
We have a total new system called "My Media Manager"
A complete digital editing and managing tool for ppw broadcasting on the internet.Dont worry 'bout space, we have the big media server going here in Denmark.
It will cost you a set up fee of 1000 dollars for setting up a basic system.Hosting will cost you 100 dollars a month, room enough for 25 people watching your webcam girls at the same time.Choose your own skins and your own paymethods.
At the moment we have coinclick.paypal and freepay.
Thing is....when u need support it'll cost ya.
But if u let us handle things, we only charge like 50 cent per sold minute. You just set up the girls and link'em to our media server.
We're just about ready to implement the first system on a German webmaster's site......he 's got 200 girls, and customers pay by phone too. It's like having your own pay per view tv-station on the net......You could be next.

Our demo/test site is in Danish, but have some English tuttorials hidden in it. so if interested, you have to write to : [email protected] ..............everybody welcome.

Respect to webcamxp, but you can only have 5 cameras at a time, and they dont have ppw.
We're talking unlimited webcams and encoder clients with extensive managing and editing tools .
We also can configure and set up a hardbox for you to use.
          Specified to your personal needs.
          Anything is possible.
          Regards Pimpmaster CW

unfortunately webcamxp does the same job - live streaming.
Chat is included as well and one studio doesnt often run more than 10 cameras, but lets say 20

                thats 30x4=120$ one time

forget old crappy emulive and other bullshits
                I don't give a shit.

                  Read this !!!

                  1. How many surfers can watch the same performer at the same time? This is where the real money is made.
                  Our hosted solution - unlimited.

                  2. Payment modules. More than one payment option built in.
Integration of payment module of your choice.

                  3. Host the software yourself! period
No prob. we'll be glad to assist you on a consultancy basis.
How many surfers can watch the same performer at the same time? - depends
                  on your streaming solution/license/backbone.
You'll need to code your own encoder-clients - download My Media Manager
                  from www.mmmanager.org it's free.

Been there...done that, very buggy software and only works half the time, you gotta rely on them to almost everything and they don't work weekends, thats right, your busiest time of the week theres no one there, I do not recommend after using them for 3 months myself.

Sometimes I go to a friend of mine who is a machanic and he does a great job. But sometimes I want a warranty and if the brakes go out while I am going down hill I want to feel comforable suing the machanic who did them. So I take my breaks to Midas.

Bottom line, you need to assess your own needs and decide if a piece of software for $120 bucks or a company for $1,000 is your own best solution. Then ask yourself, what would Hugh Hefner do? While he might skimp on his personal items, the company always has to have the best. Mainly because shit can not go wrong, period. And having a company behind your solution usually garantees a tolerable outcome. Accept in the case of Ford. Have you driven a Ford lately? I didn't think so...

How about this....How about a complete webcam solution totally done in flash...the only thing your surfers need a is the flash plugin (which is installed automatically with all the popular browsers now)?

This has EVERYTHING you all need, and you own it, and you don't have to rely on someone else to host it or anything....you do it all yourself...

                              this IS the next generation....

To do "real" streaming of a strip bars, etc I suggest Windows Media.

Once you are talking about multiple cameras you need an "editing station" running 2K or XP and Windows Media encoder running. Monitor for each cam; mixing board for levels; like a little TV station....

The Win2K box is connected to a fast upload connection and a Windows Media Host then "captures" this stream from you and your cams and rebroadcasts it.

Best case is that you have a secure page disallowing multiple logins with an hahahahahaded image of the cam; quite secure; the login script is used for billing....

Pretty expensive but can be done with what you are running now and is stable.. I could help you set something like this up for about $350 /month + some bandwidth; capacity about 2,000 concurrent users....

                                      Good luck with your site...

I'm not talkin' about multiple cameras per camhost. You can do that technically if you're into that. What i'm talking about is: multiple customers per camhost camera, and the girls get their own extensive homepage with their own skins as a free preview for customers to log in. Why disallow for multiple logins when you can do that with our customer client program using the Real Player format.
If hosted by us, it's not more expensive than a minimum charge per minute in usage. Unlimited bandwith.
